Vinesia - How do I connect an NFT to a bottle of wine? A luxury marketplace for investors.

Vinesia says, “we want to connect the market for selling wines, with the investor market for physical NFTs. Let those who invest in NFTs get a taste of investing in the world of wine.” We have designed a website for them - marketplace, focused on a unique premium user experience. About the project

Vinesia is a young startup that combines the tradition of wine knowledge with a look at new blockchain technologies.

The goal of their marketplace is not only to sell wines in the form of a physical NFT, but also to open the wine market to people who want to start investing but do not have enough knowledge in the subject.

Friendly UX

We have simplified the process of buying a physical NFT token as much as possible. We have ensured that going through the web3 ecosystem is intuitive even for people who have not had contact with it before.

Transparent information

We have made sure to provide information about the luxury investment, which is the investment in wine and NFTs, at every stage of the purchase. Thanks to this, we provided the client with a sense of security during the process.

Design challenge

In this project, it was crucial to provide the user with the knowledge necessary to go through the purchase process.
The UX itself went beyond the framework of the traditional marketplace and required a combination of information and shopping pages.

We were looking for a partner who would be strong in content, understand the WEB3 environment and work flexibly. In less than 3 months, we developed a UX project with Zima for mobile and desktop for Vinesia.com, a startup,
which combines wine investment with NFTs.

We worked with Asia, Ilona and Marta, who helped us simplify the complicated path of the investor.

Who is Vinesia's customer?

Good wine is a luxury product, so an investment of this type requires reflection. Traditionally, the wine market is based on physical sales. However, the creators of the Vinesia portal have noticed that technological changes are providing new types of customers who have slightly different needs when it comes to user experience.

Wine experts

Such clients are taking their first steps in NFT investments. Most often, they are familiar with wines, but they can be cautious about investing in physical NFT tokens.

They need: transparency of the investment process and ensure that there is an actual item behind the NFT token.

NFT Investors

Such customers perceive the wine market as an interesting alternative. Although they have already managed to get to know the NFT market, the world of wines still remains an open book.

They need: in-depth knowledge of wine as an investment: its quality, prices, investment forecasts.

Physical NFT token

The so-called. phygital NFT, i.e. tokens that have been assigned to physical assets, mean that trading in items (especially luxury) does not require the physical investor to store them.
It is like investing in gold hidden in a bank safe: the bank itself is responsible for the safekeeping and authenticity of the gold, but at the same time you enjoy the full right to own it. While tying the NFT token to physical, unique identifiers
(like NFC or QR code) we get reliable proof of the authenticity of the item.
Currently, physical blockchain tokens are used to invest in art, real estate, luxury goods and even... expensive sneakers (for example, Nike has started adding NFT tokens to some limited series) and exclusive wines.

Site architecture and navigation design

We understand that Vinesia customers have different needs: sometimes they are just looking for information, sometimes they are ready to invest right away. It became natural to separate the site into an information section, About Vinesia and the NFT wines themselves, and a target marketplace where you can start investing right away.

Selling NFTs and its challenges

The specific division of products forced a unique presentation model

In our case, the wine brand was a closed product but each bottle of wine was sold as a separate token. The product card view has therefore been divided into two stages. First of all, we showed a page with information about the wine, its value and origin. From this page, we distributed to individual tokens (the so-called release) that already had their own ID and related information about the NFT token.

Presentation of phisical token as a product

The structure of the product card and the presentation of information about it required to show in a clear way a large amount of information on various topics.

The product sold on the Vinesia marketplace is a so-called physical NFT token (i.e. a digital ID associated with a fictitious bottle of wine). Therefore, in addition to information about the NFT itself, with each product we had to include a description of the wine, its parameters and origin, investment results, as well as storage conditions and certificates of authenticity. The construction of UX for such products had to be well thought out and accessible also for the investor who is taking the first steps in this type of luxury investment and needs key information.

Intuitive buying process

Covering many different scenarios

The portal Vinesia.com as maretplace gives its clients many possibilities of action - such as buying and selling at a set price, or through the so-called bid, i.e. bidding. The UX project included not only the view of the cart, payments, but also the user account interface, where he can observe the investment market and changes in the value of his portfolio.

Digital Certificates

The unique value offered by our client was securing the authenticity of Vinesia products through advanced digital solutions such as NFC technology, Internet of Things (IoT) and finally Blockchain. The value of a luxury commodity, which is wine, is closely linked to its authenticity, which investors cannot doubt for a moment.

The most important thing was to show marketplace customers how these technologies translate into the safety of their investments and how they can monitor product quality.

$3 million in funding raised

The PoC project allowed our client to raise $3,000,000 in funding to build an MVP and further develop.

MVP has been launched in the Australian market

Thanks to the funding, an MVP was built, which was launched in the Australian market and is currently pivoting for a Product-Market Fit.

Award at the EXAW Experience Awards

Our project was awarded in the first UXoM competition in Poland — EXAW Experience Awards, winning the second prize.
